5 Practical Steps to Starting a Business Online

Step 1:

You should study up on things that interest you and this will help you decide what type of business to start online. If you love music, then maybe a website about the history of rock and roll would be perfect for you!

Step 2:

Spend some time looking at websites that are already running in your niche to see what’s working for them. For example, if I wanted to find out more about “How To Make Money Online Fast And Easy” then all I would have to do is Google it or go to Youtube and type it into their search bar. Since there are so many people who make money online these days, most of these videos can probably give me some pretty good ideas on how they did their own online business.

Step 3:

If you’re planning on making money online, then you should probably get very familiar with how to set up an affiliate website and start getting traffic to it. You can check out my article on How To Set Up A Website if you need assistance for this step. If you like the idea of affiliate marketing, but don’t think your website will get enough traffic, there is another option for monetizing your blog which is called Adsense.  Chances are that if you’re reading this post in English then most people who will be visiting your site will be from the United States and Canada.  Since most people from these countries use Google as their search engine, I would strongly advise signing up for an Adsense account and placing some ads on your website. Step 4:

Step 4 is very important if you want to start making money online with your affiliate marketing or Adsense campaigns.  You need something that will help you drive traffic to these monetized affiliate sites, blogs or webpages.  One thing I like to do for driving traffic is creating videos on Youtube about the site’s topic. If the video can be easily found through Google then this means there are more chances of people seeing it who might click through to my websites, blog posts, or advertisements. Usually, I spend a lot of time doing keyword research so I know what kind of words people use when searching for my product/service keywords. Knowing this information will keep me from creating useless content that is actually about the keyword phrase. As you may have already noticed, I spend A LOT of time researching for my blogs posts because I want to be able to provide the reader with enough information so they will come back here again and stay longer on my site. Step 5:

Step 5 is pretty straightforward.  Call up some friends/family members who know more than you do in this subject area and pick their brain until they become sick of you.(lol) There is nothing wrong with using the knowledge of others to your advantage if it’s legal! The more people I can talk with about starting a business online, the better chance I have at learning if there are any problems or opportunities that I have not even thought of yet.

Step 6: If you’ve already created some sites and maybe even had a few visitors, you should consider outsourcing your website work if it’s not something you enjoy doing. It may sound like a daunting task to do on your own, but once you get the hang of building SEO-friendly webpages then it can actually be pretty fun! You will need to stay updated with the latest trends in technology too.  It used to be that having a website back in 1999 was all that was needed for ranking well on Google, but today there are new factors such as Social Media and Mobile Devices.

If Step 1 sounded more like an “Idea” than an actual “Business”, then I wrote this article for you:   How To Come Up With Business Ideas Online

Step 2 of this article is more for those who are actually trying to build a business online that they will monetize over the long term. If you want to learn about some other good ways of making money on the internet, then please check out my article here:   Ways Of Making Money Online
